According to rumours reaching us, cross-dressers may soon be sentenced to prison if a new laws prohibiting cross-dressing in Nigeria is approved into law.
The bill was filed by Umar Muda, a member of the House of Representatives, and was read on the House floor on Tuesday.

It aims to outlaw cross-dressing, with the exception of individuals who do it for fun.

Some crossdressers have recently gained popularity in Nigeria, particularly Instagram entertainment Bobrisky.

Crossdressers now face a six-month prison sentence if the proposed law is passed.

The bill aims to alter the same-sex marriage (prohibition) act of 2013 by adding cross-dressing to the list of penalties.

Recall that if convicted by a court, same-sex couples and LGBT people face a sentence of 14 years in prison.

“A person who engages in cross-dressing commits an infraction and faces a penalty of six months in prison or a fine of five hundred thousand naira.”
