The Plateau State Government has made June 28, 2022 a public holiday, according to THE NATION REPORTERS, to get people to come out in large numbers to sign up for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card program, which will end on June 30, 2022.

In a statement, Prof. Danladi Atu, the Secretary to the State Government, said that the governor’s decision was made to make sure that the people of Plateau State would not be denied the chance to vote for the candidates of their choice before next year’s general election.

It also said: “Governor Simon Bako Lalong has made Monday, June 27, and Tuesday, June 28, 2022, holidays.

“This is so that people in Plateau State can show up in large numbers for the ongoing voter registration drive by INEC, which ends everywhere on Thursday, June 30.
